What is ECDL?

Accredited by computer societies worldwide, the ECDL is an internationally recognised standard of competence that certifies that a person has the necessary knowledge and skill set to use the most common software applications effectively and productively. Since its introduction in 1998 , the ECDL standard has been adopted and recognised by both European and non-European countries, including the United Kingdom, South Africa, France, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Ireland, Norway, Finland, Australia and Canada.

The ECDL comprises seven modules:

ECDL Module Six

Once completed, students sit for an examination set out by the Malta Institute for Computer Sciences.

Q. Who is the ECDL aimed at?

A. The ECDL is aimed at anyone and everyone from 12 years to 100 years!

Q. Will the ECDL help me find employment?

A. There are many case studies and success stories associated with the ECDL accreditation... Although It will not guarantee you a job after completing it. It will most certainly improve your chances 100%.

Q. How do I get the official ECDL Certification?

A. To achieve your ECDL Certification, you will need to purchase a Skills Card. This document lists each of the seven modules of the ECDL. Each time you pass a module exam, a 'Pass' mark is indicated on your Skills Card next to the module. Once students pass a test in each of these modules, they may exchange their Skills Card with their official ECDL licence, which confirms their competence in computer skills and provides them with a World Wide Recognised qualification.

Q. Where can I sit for these examinations and
get my official ECDL Certification?

A. The Malta Institute for Computer Sciences is an official ECDL Examination Centre. Official ECDL skill cards are readily available and students may decide to sit for any of the official examinations at their
convenience during any time of the day.
Full time invigilators are readily available at the
Institute .
