What is Equalskills?
Equalskills is an introductory course to
computers and the Internet. The programme
was developed by ICS-Skills, the organisation
responsible for The European Computer Driving
Licence (ECDL).

The Equalskills course covers four main areas:
Computer Basics
Parts of the Computer
Getting Started
The Keyboard
Using the Mouse

Introduction to the Desktop
Windows
Creating a document
File types

The World Wide Web
The WWW Web Browser
Searching

Email
Email accounts

Question and Answer

Q. Who is equalskills for?
A. Equalskills is specifically designed for those
with no experience whatsoever of computers,
and is open to everyone regardless of status,
education, age or experience.

Q. What are the entry requirements?

A. There are no entry requirements for the
equalskills programme.

Q. Do I have to sit an exam or do a test?

A. No, there is no exam in the equalskills
programme.

Q. How long will it take me to complete the
equalskills programme?

A. The programme is spread over 5 weeks with
one lecture every week. Each lecture is 2 hours
long.

Q. How does the programme work?

A. Once you enrol for the course, you will be
given a workbook consisting of four modules.
Every module consists of two sections. The first
section teaches you about the topic by providing
information and using simple computer or
internet exercises. The second section consists
of a number of questions and simple tasks you
will need to complete.
You will be assigned a facilitator to help you
work through the workbook during the classroom
training. On completion of the programme, you
can keep the workbook as a reminder of the
skills you have learnt.
Once you have successfully completed all the
exercises in the workbook, your facilitator will
sign it off, and you will be awarded your
equalskills certificate.
