Procedures
Qualification aim
To demonstrate competence in the knowledge, understanding and application
of a broad range of skills and responsibilities associated with
office and secretarial procedures.
Target group
Suitable for anyone who proposes to work, has worked or is working
in a business environment in any part of the world. Level One is
suitable for those who require a foundation of knowledge of office
procedures. Level Two is for candidates who wish to further develop
their administrative and/or secretarial skills.
Qualification structure
Available at Levels One and Two.
Level One Tests candidates knowledge
of the content of office work, the importance of effective communications
in modern business, the procedures associated with typical basic
office systems, the fundamentals of operating a simple filing system
and the use of the main types of machinery and equipment found in
an office.
Level Two Tests the candidate's
knowledge of the structure and function of departments, the importance
of interpersonal, oral and writing skills and the contribution of
modern technology to modern business, the processes involved in
business transactions and the preparation and organisation of meetings
and travel.
Assessment method
Tests are carried out under exam conditions. Tasks are set by City
& Guilds Pitman Qualifications examiners and are assessed, marked
and graded by them.
Level One Two hour exam
Level Two Two and a half hour exam.

Qualifications diploma
Office Procedures is one of the single subjects that can make up
the Secretarial
and Administration Diploma. Candidates
must be successful in five single subjects at appropriate levels
to qualify for the diploma. When candidates have achieved the necessary
range of single subjects they can apply for their diploma.
