Course Overview
Students will focus on learning and understanding the basic tools and techniques required to get their projects up and going, and be able to move on to more advanced techniques covered in more advanced course. This course will cover weekly lessons, assignments, review questions, and thorough analysis of students’ work by the instructor. If you are a student or an individual interested to get more informed on how the technical aspect of the world wide web with little or no working knowledge of Dreamweaver, this is the course for you! Lesson 2 – The Dreamweaver Interface

• Understanding individual tools.
• The tool options.
• Working with context menus.
• Previewing and browser settings
• Personalizing your interface.

Lesson 3 – Links and Tables
• Creating Links, Anchors and Email hyperlinks.
• Creating Image Maps.
• Using the Dreamweaver Interface to Insert Tables.
• Formatting and Sorting Tables.
• Importing images and external content.
• Using Find and Replace to Edit Your Site.

 

Lesson 4 - Layers
• Working with Layers.
• Setting layers and constraints.
• Linking layers to menus
• Using the Dreamweaver to manage and insert custom and template layers.
• Creating Forms.
• Layers: pros and cons.

Lesson 5: Creating a Website (practical)
• Sketching a Sitemap.
• From paper to computer design.
• Other media and java applets
• File structure and Web Servers
• Color palate and creating your website identity.

• Debugging, updating and maintenance.

Lesson 6 – Student Design
• Project view and discussion.
• Assignment and additional points.
• General information, conclusions and corrections.

Requirements
• Software: Before beginning this class, students are advised to have a working version of Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, or 7.0.
• System Requirements: An adequate computer that can handle the memory demands of Macromedia Dreamweaver is vital in order to work efficiently. Please refer to the official Macromedia Documentation for the system requirements for your version of Macromedia Dreamweaver.
• Programming: Students must be familiar with basic file management, how to run and navigate a computer, uploading and downloading files and web browsing.
Additional Information:
This course is limited to 8 participants per group to ensure individual attention by the lecturer during all sessions.
